About The Song
"Home" is about the metaphor of riding a boat that sometimes feels shaky and keeping it afloat, keeping the weight low so that home can be attained by the narrator. It talks about making goals, manifesting them into reality through keeping inner peace, keeping distractions away, and having tunnel vision towards success. Success in this song's perspective points towards family back at home approving of the hard work and earned successes that have (in this story) been attained. When the narrator points out the his family wasn't going with 'ride the boat' with him and that they wouldn't understand anyway since they have never 'left the land'.
Lyrics:

[Chorus]
I swear my mind blows
Every time I sit down and let it all go
Phone on D.N.D., so you know I'm laying' low
I set my soul free, now I chart my way home

[Verse 1]
The boat keeps shaking but I'll lighten the load
'Cross the seven seas I be goin' with the flow
When I land I'm gonna right my board like Chris Cole
Super Smash Bros, me and my bros full sailing' home
On the boat we makin' mixes
My music healed all my stitches
Remember when they didn't listen
Now in the foreground I glisten
Keep the sail close, I'm manifestin' all my goals
Conquering my fears with sheer might, I stay weird

[Verse 2]

Now I've made land, I'm conversing with the fam
Told 'em what's the deal, they said they wasn't with the plan
Oh man, you just gotta leave, you'll never understand
How can you when you've never even left the fuckin' land?
I learned early on that you can't fix someone for them
Gotta take the risk and bring to light what you have dreamt
Sometimes it takes a little time in the Zen
Take some time alone, then your worries finally end

[Bridge]

Sometimes I just wanna go back home
Cuz time's been movin' too slow
I gotta come back to the flow
And let the present moment know
Sometimes I just wanna gp back home
But there's no where to go
(x2)
Progress Log:

Day 1
Chord Progression is represented by Mallets and Synth Pad and Piano – V, i, VI
All melodic instrumentation except the 808 Bass was made with stock instruments in logic, then bounced in place for temporary audio file to group instruments together onto one fader.
All Percussion instrumentation including 808 Bass was made in FL Studio, bounced, then added to Logic. Midi data is in FL Studio, can eventually be added to Logic including my own instruments but temporary bounced audio file of percussion and 808’s is present.

Day 2
Lyrics were written, and recorded in own time to get a feel for the melodic lines for the song. My work flow tends to be developing the melody as I go, and then going back in for revisions.

Re-recorded in a different DAW for a better work flow, then bounced and imported into Pro Tools to start the mixing process.

Day 3
Entirety of lyrics were rewritten, except for the bridge. The lyrics were a bunch of different sections talking about different ideas and there was no story line, nor did it sound organized. The was no real structure other than a commonality being the chorus. Therefore, I took the idea of the bridge and started all the lyrics from scratch developing a storyline about sometimes wanting to go back "home".

The lyrics were re-recorded, bounced into Pro Tools, and then mixed.

The final Stereo Mix of the full song you hear here was done in my preferred DAW for recording vocals and mixing them only. There is a version mixed in Pro Tools, however I feel that based on my work flow this mix does the song the most justice.

Portfolio IV Track
This is a mix that was created by me, using original raw audio files directly from the professional and original stereo mix provided by the professor. This mix was only done to practice referencing towards the original, and getting my personal mix as close to the original as possible. Therefore, this was made for educational purposes only and provides a view of what I learned about mixing using the Avid Pro Tools DAW. In the first week I learned more about gain matching each track to the reference track. In the second week I learned more about using compression and EQ's, again matching it as close to the reference as possible. In the third and fourth week I then learned more about time-based effects such as reverb, delay, de-esser's and more. At the end of the month I finalized what you now see to the left as the final mix.
Final Portfolio VII Project
Lyrics:

[Hook]
I go through the motions while counting emotions
Sit lotus position, start breaking away
Look to the sky then be praying to something
"If free will's an illusion is it all the same?"
Take this anxiety away from me, talk to my heart there is plenty of love to relate.
Sometimes I wonder if everyone's awake, while I'm still sittin' here tryna make my own way.

[Chorus]
Been under the pressure
And it's getting lesser
Wouldn't pick up the phone
I was just feelin' alone
But I'm never alone
Yea, you're never alone
Look inside that's your home

[Verse]
(Wow), Sometimes it's good to be standing outside in the rain,
It be washin' away all my sins, so I'm closer to the God that's been living inside of me, 'kay

Used to see things as a trajedy,
Now there is love it be guiding me
Channelling thoughts, I've been living life properly
No rules, you got some things comin' my G
About:

For my final project at Full Sail University, I chose to make a song that resembled everything that I managed to perfect about my craft, not just in music production, but also mixing, mastering, and as an artist as well. Since learning everything there has been to learn at this university, my craft has only elevated - and I'd say 100-fold. This song is about doubts that I've had along my journey of becoming the best version of myself that I can be, and the lyrics were written during a time when I felt sort of lost, and on the verge of finding out my true purpose which I know now. This song is meant to inspire hope in others and also to let those same people know that they are never alone, that their home and safe haven that be always be counted on can be found within.

About 'Blank':

Nick is a professional artist and producer based in Winter Park Florida, originally from Palmyra, New York. He started making music in school through band and choir quickly gaining interest in classical music. Throughout junior and senior high school Nick learned how to play percussion and piano. From there he chose to go to college as a Piano Performance Music Major. This unfortunately didn't come to fruition as COVID-19 made its way into the picture. He decided to take time off from school and work feeling that for some time he had lost his passion for music. For those next few years Nick would soon find himself making his first Hip-Hop/Rap beats on his laptop. Vigorously he was creating not only beats but also lyrics and making them into songs. This gave Nick an outlet to channel his feelings into an art that had never been known to him before. Now he finds himself mastering and perfecting this craft in the music industry.
Nick spreads the beloved message of 'One Love' through the creation of music one piece at a time. Whether it is a next single, or he is making a beat for you to hop on, his art is imbedded with the energy and intention to help those who listen to better themselves.
